Newsome Mills | Project Management

Newsome Mills is a landmark residential redevelopment in Huddersfield for Connect Housing. The historic textile mill, dating back to 1827, has remained vacant since 1983 and has more recently suffered extensive fire damage. The site is now being brought forward to deliver a high-quality, sustainable community comprising of a mixture of low rise and an apartment block within this affordable development.

Currently at the design stage, our role as Project Manager and Employer’s Agent is leading on programme management, risk mitigation, stakeholder coordination, and governance, ensuring the scheme progresses efficiently through design while maintaining alignment with the client’s objectives. This land led scheme is nearing financial close and at that point we will be appointed as Employer’s Agent, we provide independent oversight across all parties, managing consultant teams, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual, cost, and quality requirements.

We are also advising on the remediation strategy, buildability, and value engineering, helping to balance design ambition with deliverability and cost certainty.

The development will include up to 68 dwellings with a mix of 2, 3, and 4-bedroom houses alongside apartments, including accommodation tailored for older people and supported housing. Accessibility and inclusivity are embedded throughout the design.

Our involvement in this complex multi-faceted project ensures that the regeneration of Newsome Mills not only revitalises a historic site but is delivered in a controlled, transparent, and client-focused manner, setting a strong foundation for successful delivery in the next phases.
