High School | Structural Surveys
Commissioned by BCAP and Eddison’s, this project involved structural assessment works within a high school building, initially focused on the condition, and suitability, of existing woodwool roof structures, to support new built up roof systems.
During the assessment, additional concerns were identified relating to masonry stability, specifically the brickwork façade pulling away from the main structure, requiring further investigation and intervention.
Solution
Our team conducted a detailed structural review of the woodwool slabs, assessing their integrity, load capacity, and suitability for continued use.
Upon identifying issues with the brick façade, we expanded the scope to investigate the underlying causes, including potential wall tie failure. A series of recommendations was developed, covering both immediate safety considerations and longer-term remedial measures.
We provided clear guidance on repair strategies, prioritisation, and implementation to ensure safety and compliance.
