Former Plant Hill Police Station

The LK Group was appointed to undertake specialist demolition and land remediation services ahead of the construction phase for the former Plant Hill Police Station.

Project Overview

The redevelopment of the Former Plant Hill Police Station marks a significant contribution to the ongoing regeneration of North Manchester. The scheme, led by Tyson Construction, will deliver 12 three-storey dwelling houses (Class C3) with associated landscaping, parking, and boundary treatments, helping to address local housing demand.

Solution Provided

We carried out the controlled demolition of the disused police station, a robust structure with varied building materials and legacy infrastructure. Working in close coordination with Tyson Construction and other stakeholders, our team managed the works to ensure:

  • Minimal disruption to the neighbouring school.
  • Safe removal of all above and below-ground structures.
  • Careful segregation and disposal of waste materials in line with environmental regulations.

Following demolition, our team delivered a comprehensive land remediation strategy to prepare the site for residential development. This included:

  • Removal of contaminated made ground and buried obstructions.
  • Verification testing to confirm the site met residential end-use criteria.
  • Placement of clean cover materials where required.

Client Benefits

The LK Group’s early-stage involvement ensured that the site was safely cleared, environmentally compliant, and ready for construction. This project reflects The LK Group’s ongoing commitment to unlocking brownfield sites and supporting urban regeneration across Greater Manchester.
