The LK Group’s aspiring footballers, AKA LK Galaxy, recently participated in a vigorous 5-a-side football tournament hosted by HBL Associates. Held at the Power League Football Club in Manchester, this event was not just about football, it also supported two incredible local charities: The Jon Shaw Foundation and Together Trust.
The Together Trust supports children, young people and their families providing life-changing care, support and education so they can lead the happy and fulfilled lives they deserve. Meanwhile, the Jon Shaw Foundation aids young people living with epilepsy, raising awareness of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) and promotes the mental health of bereaved siblings and close friends.
With 29 companies stepping onto the pitch, the competition was fierce. LK Galaxy faced some strong contenders, including BAQUS, Curtins, Pozzoni Architects, and Fieldway Group. Despite the tough competition, our very own Director, Colin Crompton scored a worldy (his words!) goal in the second match.
Throughout the tournament, LK Galaxy showcased remarkable skill and teamwork. Our players gave their all, quite literally, with one star player even sustaining an ankle injury.
Nevertheless, their resilience and determination propelled us to the quarterfinals. Despite the ice packs and our best efforts, our journey ended there as we were bested by Fieldway group.
Although we didn’t get the results we wanted, we were thrilled to participate. The perfect weather and camaraderie made for a fantastic day and were delighted to see PLP Construction crowned as the tournament champions.
