The LK Group, a geoenvironmental consultancy and remediation contractor, scooped a much-coveted Green Apple Environment Award. They achieved this by delivering site investigation and land remediation at Collyhurst Village, a key project within Victoria North. The clients for this venture were Manchester City Council and Far East Consortium.
Established in 1994, The Green Apple Environment Awards is the annual international campaign to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world.
The LK Group competed against more than 500 nominees with its Collyhurst Village project in the awards category for ‘Environmental Best Practice.’
Collyhurst Village marks the inaugural phase of Victoria North, the most extensive urban regeneration initiative in the North of England. This ambitious project aims to develop 15,000 new homes in the coming two decades. The primary goal during project work was to craft a remediation strategy and earthworks specification. This aimed to optimise the sustainable reuse of materials on the site. The LK Group achieved sustainable development through strategic design, emphasising value engineering and material recycling.
On November 21st, 2022, representatives from The LK Group received the winning trophy at the Palace of Westminster in London. This ceremony reaffirms our steadfast commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. Stay tuned for updates and insights as we continue to pioneer environmental best practices in the construction and development industry.
