Ashton’s Market Square reaches major milestone as new kiosks arrive on site

Dec 01, 2025 General

Regeneration work in Ashton has reached an exciting new stage, with the arrival of the first market kiosks on site, marking a highly visible milestone in the transformation of one of Greater Manchester’s most historic public spaces.

The kiosks, produced off-site by modular specialists, WhiteCraft, form a core part of the wider £14.6m redevelopment of Ashton Market Square. The ambitious scheme – funded though the Government’s Levelling Up Fund and Tameside Council – will create a modern, flexible civic space designed to accommodate markets, events, food and beverage traders, and cultural activities throughout the year.

The kiosks will be home to high-quality food and drink traders, local produce and retail, operating alongside the general market traders to create a more vibrant and diverse offer within the square.

As project managers, we’ve been supporting Tameside Council on the scheme redevelopment and wider town centre public realm strategy, and working closely with the wider design and delivery team, including Planit, Buttress, Civic Engineers, Hoare Lea, Simon Fenton Partnership, WhiteCrate, TMBC Engineers and the Casey Group.

The installation of the kiosks represents a key moment where the vision becomes more tangible for local residents and visitors.

As regeneration specialists, we’re proud to be supporting Tameside Council in delivering a project with such long-term value for the local community. With the kiosks now taking shape on site, the transformation of Ashton Market Square is moving into its next exciting phase.
