Due to our continued growth and client demand, we have the opportunity for a self-motivated individual for the position of Geo-environmental Consultant working as part of our Ground Investigation team.  

As Geo-environmental Consultant, you will be responsible for carrying out ground investigations, producing reports, quoting and project management of small-scale projects, and will also have the opportunity to assist in training and mentoring junior members of staff. 

The role requires direct contact with clients and regulators and involvement in varied and challenging projects within this growing division of our multidisciplinary consultancy. This is an opportunity to develop your technical skills and strategic and commercial capabilities in a unique company. You will play your part in the wider team, by supporting our client-side project management consultancy and land remediation contracting sections.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Responsibilities  

  • Phase 1 desk studies including site visits. 
  • Phase 2 site investigations, including supervision of contractors, and sampling and logging of exploratory holes. 
  • Gas and groundwater monitoring. 
  • Technical report writing, including soil, gas and groundwater risk assessments, outline remediation strategies. 
  • Production of quotes and Project Management of small-scale investigations, including SI design. Budgeting and use of the financial system. 
  • Client and regulatory liaison. 
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff. 

 

Requirements  

  • Degree in a relevant field such as geology, geography, environmental science, geophysics, or geochemistry. An additional higher degree may also be an advantage. 
  • 2-3 years’ experience undertaking Phase 1 and Phase 2 site investigations.  
  • Technical report writing and consultancy experience.  
  • High motivation for this specific opportunity. 
  • Self-motivated team player with exceptional people skills. 
  • Ability to work under own initiative while fully co-ordinating with line manager’s requirements. 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.  
  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Full UK driving licence.
