Purpose
On completion of a Type 2 Asbestos survey the duty holder has a further requirement to manage the findings of the report on an ongoing basis. The client would be expected to run a program of re-inspections to monitor the condition of the installations outlined in the report. There remains a duty to protect all maintenance workers either visiting or employed by the duty holder from accidental exposure to Asbestos fibres. The report must be made available for review prior top any minor works being undertaken.
Method
LKA would take on the ‘Duty to Manage’ on behalf of the client. All aspects of Asbestos management would be covered to include:
- Statutory compliance.
- Financial planning and management
- Procurement of third party services
- 6-12 monthly re-inspections
- Priority risk assessment and management.
- Issues of permits to work.
- Liaison with project managers and architects and arrangement of Type 3 surveys where necessary.
- Identification of training needs
- Provision of Asbestos awareness training
Result
